Every cell is the same size, so images are either cropped from the centre to fill it or scaled down to sit inside it — neither option stretches a photo out of proportion. Cropping discards the parts of a picture that fall outside the cell; if a face or caption sits near an edge, use the fit option instead. A grid with an odd number of images leaves the last cells as background rather than stretching the final image across them.
